In addition to the upcoming series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Variety reported today that there are no less than three new films are planned to form a second trilogy centered around the exploits of the John Connor character. The secretive T4 screenplay is rumored to focus on Connor in his 30s, and leading what's left of the human race against the machines. It is unclear at this time if Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming film.

According to producer Moritz Borman, that Terminator 3, "included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the main narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of inter-related stories covering the future adventures of John Connor and the Terminators. This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base, which was both revitalized and expanded with the global success of T3."
