R.I.P.

This Saturday, The College Hill Bookstore is closing after almost 40 years in business on Thayer Street. As a Rhode Island native, I've shopped there my entire life and it will personally be missed.

Is it just me, or is Thayer Street losing all of it's independent merchants? In Your Ear, The Hole in the Wall and now College Hill in just a few short months. I know Providence Place Mall has taken a bit of the foot traffic away from the once popular street. Landlords need to realize that the street isn't the draw that it once was and need to bring businesses to the street as opposed to raising rents that drive smaller businesses away.
